“It was unfortunate. It was kind of an interaction with our fans seated near me,” Jones stated during a Tuesday interview. “Present was a swarm of Dallas supporters—not New York fans, our fans. The entire stadium was brimming with enthusiasm for the Dallas team.”
Jones additionally clarified that the signal was completely unintentional, happening amid the excitement following the team’s last score. “I just put up the wrong digit,” he noted. “The action was accidentally performed. I’m not kidding. If you want to call it unplanned, you can. But it got corrected rapidly.”

This is not the initial instance an NFL owner has been fined for inappropriate behavior. Previous cases include:
- Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper was fined $300,000 for tossing a beverage at spectators in January 2024.
